1. 青岛西海岸唐岛湾公园 Tangdao Bay Coastal Park
Located in the administrative CBD of Qingdao development zone, the Tangdao Bay Coastal Park occupies 10 square kilometers of water and 10 kilometers of coastline. The park is known in China for being the “Bay of the Sea” and the northern “West Lake on the Sea”. Tangdao Bay has a long history and got its name in 644 from the presence of the garrison of Emperor Taizong of Tang (personal name Li Shimin, the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty of China, ruling from 624 to 649); the Tangdao Bay waters are a famous ancient battlefield of the “War at Sea between State Song and Jin” during the Southern Song Dynasty. Ocean shipping was first started by Kublai Khan (also known by the temple name Shizu, the Fifth Great Khan of Mongol Empire from 1260 to 1294 and the founder of the Yuan Dynasty in China); the Baythus became an important mooring spot along the seaway on which grains were shipped from south to north; in the Ming Dynasty Jiajing years, the Mahao Canal connecting Tangdao Bay and Qianwan Bay was developed into a distribution center for grain ships. As an important transportation hub for businessmen, the Tangdao Bay is of great significance in promoting south-north marine transportation and economic development.
The Tangdao Bay enjoys favorable geographic location and excellent natural water conditions which have qualified it for water sports, business and leisure activities. Since 2001, the administrative commission of Qingdao development zone (the district government) has invested over RMB 600 million for the comprehensive treatment of Tangdao Bay. It includes a series of reforms such as the dredging and backfilling of the Bay, the greening, beautifying, and brightening of its north coast, as well as building bank protection and paved path ashore. A coastal park with beautiful landscape has thus been built. With the theme “sailing, canal, love, and sport”, the Tangdao Bay North Coastal Park can be divided, from west to east, into seven districts by function, which are: cow island ecological protected area, coastal center for sports and leisure activities, canal square, public art park, coastal leisure square, coastal garden of Eden and dock village for recreation and entertainment. The Tangdao Bay South Coast Park, which is a pioneer demonstration area of “Green Island Planning”, holds three parts: Tangdao Bay South Coast Landscape Engineering, Silver Sand Beach Ecological Botanic Garden, and West Round-island Green Street Project.
2. 青岛金沙滩 Golden Sand Beach (Jin Sha Tan in Pin Yin)
金沙滩位于青岛开发区东南，南濒黄海，呈月牙形东西伸展，全长3500多米，宽300米。因为水清滩平，沙细如粉，色泽如金，所以得到了金沙滩这个响亮的名字。金沙滩是中国沙质最细、面积最大、风景最美的沙滩之一，被喜爱它的人们冠以“亚洲第一滩“的美称。对于金沙滩，人们最津津乐道的就是它的“金沙“。这里还有一个美丽的传说：古时候有一只金凤凰飞赴天庭参加百鸟盛会 ，当飞抵碧波万顷、渔歌荡漾的胶州湾时，心旷神怡，乐不思归，振翅落入胶州湾畔，化身为今天的凤凰岛，她华美的翅膀掠过的地方，就成了沙质细腻、色泽如金的金沙滩。 海面有一石蛙，头东尾西，随潮起潮落若隐若现，称为“隐身石蛙”。清代诗云：“岛屿婉蜓傍海隈，沧茫万倾水天开，潮声如吼摇山岳，疑是将军拥众来。”现代学者诗文：“金沙滩头平，遥望天水涌，海阔纳万物，山远断九穹，危礁傲飞浪，娇燕喜罡风，沧海无尽时，扬帆日边行。”
Golden Sand Beachis situatedin the southeast of Phoenix Island (Xuejia Dao) in Qingdao and is close to the Bohai Sea. The beach stretches from east to west like a crescent. Its claim to fame as “The No.1 Beach in Asia” is due to its soft, golden sand. Jin Sha Tan is about 3,500 meters (2miles) long and 300 meters (0.1 miles) wide. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in China. Golden Sand Beach is endowed with appealing sceneries. Golden sand, white clouds, blue sea and fantastic reefs make up a beautiful picture. One of the reefs is shaped like a frog. The “stone frog” disappears or appears with the rising or ebbing of the tide, hence its name “Indistinct Stone Frog”. Many marine lives such as crabs, shellfish and starfish flourish in the water. In addition, Golden Sand Beach is famous for its’ three treasures-sea cucumber, abalone and crab, which are delicious and nutritious when prepared fresh. Jin Sha Tan can be divided into seven areas: exhibition area, sports area, children’s land, seashore entertainment area, bathing area, beach leisure area and shopping area. The recreational facilities are well equipped. During the day, visitors can go yachting, speed boating or surfing. Football and volleyball matches are held on the beach, as well as musical performances and evening parties. After a busy day, it is good to have a relaxing bath in the bathing area, then camp on the beach and enjoy the beautiful night. A festival called “Cultural and Tourism Festival has been held annually on Golden Sand Beach since 1998. The festival is sponsored by the administrative committee of the Qingdao Economic and Development Zone and the People’s Government of Huangdao District in Qingdao. The opening and closing ceremonies are the highlights of this festival. Many famous singers, actors and artists will be invited to sing, perform and entertain. Visitors can also participate in a variety of interesting activities such as football and volleyball matches, cross-country races, beach sculpture competitions, calisthenics competitions, folk art exhibitions and movies. Golden Sand Beach welcomes visitors from all over the world. It is a place worth visiting.

4. 崂山Mount Lao
Mount Lao, orLaoshan(Chinese:崂山;pinyin:LáoShān) is a popular tourist site with a 5A government rating. There are six designated scenic areas on Mount Lao: Taiqing (太清景区), Chessboard Stone (棋盘石景区, Yangkou（仰口景区), Jufeng (巨峰景区), Beijiushui (北九水景区), and Hualou (华楼景区). Mount Lao is a mountain located near theEast China Seaon the southeastern coastline of theShandong Peninsulain China. The mountain is culturally significant due to its long affiliation withTaoismand is often regarded as one of the cradles of Taoism. It is the highest coastal mountain in China, with the highest peak (Jufeng) reaching 1,132.7 meters (3,716 ft).
5. 栈桥Zhanqiao Pier
Zhanqiao Pier, built in 1891, is the symbol of Qingdao. After several restorations, from being a simple military harbor, it is now open to tourists. The pier is 440 meters long. There is an octagonal pagoda of distinctive Chinese style, “Huilan Pagoda” at the end of the pier. From the top, tourists can fully view the magnificent sea. Along the shore is the beautiful Pier Park, which is a pleasant and quiet place for tourists to rest or enjoy the scenery of Little Qingdao Isle and its white tower.
6. 天后宫Tianhou Palace
Tianhou Palace: This temple has the longest history in the urban area. Tianhou Palace was first built in the Ming Dynasty (1467AD). Its original name was Tianfei Temple, and was later changed to Tianhou Palace. With a stage in the front and bell towers and drum towers at both sides, the temple has been developed into Qingdao Folk Customs Museum.
7. 迎宾馆Guest House
It is an architecture of a classic German castle. The delicate shape, splendid ornaments, graceful lines and bold colors make the Guest House one of the best examples of monomeric villas in China. Originally, it was the official residence of the German governor in Qingdao and was called “the Governor’ Official Residence”. In 1934, it was formally renamed “Guest House”, and has become important as a retreat to receive VIPs in military affairs and politics.
8. 天主教堂Catholic Church
Located in Zhejing Road, the Catholic Church, originally named St. Michael’s, was built by the German in 1934. The 60-meter-high building, covering 2470 square meters, is one of China famous Catholic Churches.
Built in 1932, the castle-like building exhibits over 100 live aquatic animals, 2000 animals and plants, and 20,000 specimens. It is the only specialized museum in China.
10. 小鱼山公园Xiaoyushan Park
Built in the Chinese classical style, the hill-top park is named after the Yu Hill. The designers and architects made use of the local landscape and their imagination in laying out the park. The 18-metre-high three-story and eight-cornered “Seeing Waves Tower” bears an inscription by Wu Zuoren, a famous calligraphist.
11. 八大关Eight Great Passes
Lying between Huiquan Cape and Taiping Cape, Badaguan faces the rippling Taiping Bay. In Badaguan area, more than 200 villas of exotic style are scattered among the flora and fauna. There are so many villas that the scenic spot is called a World Architecture Museum. Crossing the scenic area are ten roads built in 1931 and lined with many varieties of trees such as peaches, crabapples, pine trees and ginkgoes. Eight of the roads are named after the eight great passes of the Great Wall, and thus the area was named “Badaguan”.
12. 五四广场May 4th Square
This square is named to honour the May 4th Movement which took place in 1919. Consisting of two aquaria and a park, the area is decorated with statues and springs, and surrounded by pine trees, meadows and flowers. Today, it has become the symbol of modern Qingdao.
13. 青岛第一海水浴场 The First Swimming Beach in Qingdao
Why so many tourists enroll in Qingdao during every summer holiday? You'll get it by looking at the following pictures. It is the famous First Beach. When summer comes, you can never imagine how many tourists go for swimming everyday. Some people just describe it as boiling dumplings. This 580-meter stretch of sand along the northeastern edge of Huiquan Bay tends to attract large hordes of sunbathers due to its close downtown location. Changing huts, showers and hawking vendors provide everything a good beach needs.
